4. Baker Hughes Rig Counts

An interactive map that lists the company’s U.S. rotary rig counts? Yes, please. Rig counts are updated weekly and used as a business barometer for the drilling industry and its suppliers. Available for iPhone and iPad.

5. Drilling Simulator
This graphic tool offers guidance for roughnecks, derrickmen, drillers and students. You’ll learn basic drilling concepts and in-the-kick detection based on the behavior of drilling parameters.

6. American Petroleum Institute
The app provides access to news about the API. It also includes stats, reports and documents relevant to oilfield workers, including current prices for crude oil, natural gas and the average gasoline prices. Available for Apple and Android devices.


7. Drillutions
Manage data and make complex calculations with the Drillutions app. You’ll find calculations for annular velocity, displacement, hydrostatic pressure, tank volume and more. The app also contains reference records for tools, tubing, casing and more. Browse records or customize your own.
