Oil- and gas-focused show to run through Thursday in Calgary
The 2015 Global Petroleum Show opens its doors at 10 a.m. today, featuring 1,800 exhibiting companies from the oil and gas industry. The show is expected to draw nearly 50,000 attendees this year.
“There are some neat things going on here this year,” says Bruce Carew, vice president of energy for show organizer dmg::events. “There’s a little bit of everything for everyone involved in the oil and gas industry.”
The biggest – and probably the most noticeable – addition to the show this year is the Drilling Site Experience in the outdoor area, which is a comprehensive mock drilling site including a drilling rig, mud unit, well head and command center.
“We’re going to have everything there that a normal drill site would, from the water side to the fueling and even to the sewage side,” Carew says. “It’ll be a great opportunity for those who have never been able to see an actual drilling site.”
Also new this year at the Global Petroleum Show is the Safety Zone. Located in the Upper Big Four, the Safety Zone is the destination for professionals to explore the latest products and services in health and safety in the industry.
Some items being shown in the Safety Zone include fire-protection suits, work gloves, boots and other safety gear.
In Hall F, the show is bringing in a Manufacturing Zone where there will be live demonstrations and simulations on the manufacturing side of the industry. Work such as welding will be displayed in this area.
Gas, Oil & Mining Contractor is again exhibiting at the Global Petroleum Show this year. Visit with us at Booth 4648 in the Upper Big Four — just a few steps down from the Safety Zone.
