In this week’s news update, Suncor Energy is finalizing the takeover of Canadian Oil Sands, and Williston tries to shut down man camps in the city.
The Williston City Commission last year set a deadline of July 1, 2016, for the man camps in Williston to be shut down. Earlier in March, commissioners rejected a proposed compromise to phase out the camps over several years.
The camps are run by Target Logistics. The company says oilfield workers shouldn't be forced to live in hotels or apartments and plans to pursue legal action.
The mayor of Williston argues that temporary housing within the city limits is unnecessary and that there is plenty of permanent housing.
Suncor Energy Finalizing Takeover of Canadian Oil Sands, Delisting Shares
Canadian Oil Sands Ltd. will be immediately integrated into Suncor Energy Inc. Minority shareholders voted in favor of the takeover and the company was delisted from the Toronto stock exchange.
Suncor won over resistant Canadian Oil Sands management and shareholders, after two offers and a hostile bid last year. The takeover was approved in January 2016.
