LSV6 and LSV8 portable light towers from Doosan Portable Power feature a compact design for greater maneuverability and ease of transport. Both towers have four 1,000-watt metal halide lamps with an LED option and six-section masts that manually extend to 25 feet 6 inches. A hydraulically actuated tower is optional.
“The tower always stays in a vertical position,” says Deree Bivins, lighting systems product manager, Doosan Portable Power. “They’re easy to set up and require less manual labor, especially with the hydraulic tower option — turn the breaker on and flip the switch up or flip the switch down. Setup takes a minute or two versus five or 10 minutes.”
The light towers are 99.1 inches long and 49 inches wide with a travel height of 99 inches. The compact design enables 16 fully assembled light towers to be carried on a 48-foot flatbed truck. The LSV6 has a Mecc Alte 6 kW alternator powered by a Tier 4 Final Kubota D1005BG diesel engine, and the LSV8 has a Mecc Alte 8 kW alternator powered by a Tier 4

Final Kubota D1105 engine. A 42.2-gallon diesel fuel tank provides 82 hours of runtime with four halide lights.
“The large fuel tank is a key feature because the user can refuel less often,” Bivins says. “In gas and mining applications, where the light towers are often in remote locations, service workers don’t have to go out as often. With the LED option, users can potentially double the runtime of the light tower versus the traditional metal halide.”
The LED lights are rated for 50,000 hours.

A pin system enables the light head to be rotated where needed.
Both towers enable operators to simultaneously run power tools or heaters while providing optimal illumination.

“With the LSV6, the standard control panel has a 20-amp, 120-volt GFCI duplex receptacle with a 240-volt/25-amp twist-lock option,” Bivins says. “The LSV8 has two 120-volt duplex receptacles and a 240-volt twist-lock on the control panel.”
Standard configuration on both LSV models includes a detachable drawbar for towing, 2-inch ball hitch and 520 cold-cranking amps (CCA) battery. Options on both towers include drip containment, 100 percent containment, combination hitch, lockable battery disconnect and electric fuel pump.
“The electric fuel pump option dramatically shortens the machine downtime by eliminating the manual process,” Bivins says. “The option re-primes the fuel system. If the light tower does run out of fuel, it is quickly back up and running with the electric fuel pump option.”
